New Braunfels Arts Non-Profits Receive Checks From “Wassail with Wade & Friends” Benefit Concert

On December 15th 2020, representatives from the New Braunfels Art League, the Historic Outdoor Art Museum, Circle Arts Theatre, and the Brauntex Theatre met with event organizers and sponsors of “Wassail with Wade & Friends”, a benefit concert that took place two weeks earlier at the New Braunfels Civic & Convention Center and online streaming outlets. Country artist and New Braunfels Resident Wade Bowen along with event organizers presented checks for $10,000 to each of the four beneficiaries.

Event producers Jenny Wilson of 1845 Creative and John Coker of the New Braunfels Jaycees welcomed attendees and thanked premium sponsors: Shiner Beer, the NB Convention & Visitors Bureau, Angel Brothers Construction, Big League Car Wash, CEMEX, Century Asphalt, Currents, Enersol Group, Gruene Cottages, Lone Star Bath Treats, Lone Star Paving, Moody Bank, Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, Safety Shield, Sage Capital Bank, Scores Sports Bar & Grill, The Foundry Salon, The Wine Group, and Triple C Epoxy Flooring.

“Several months ago, when we realized that all of our favorite New Braunfels traditions were getting cancelled or ‘prost-poned’, I couldn’t stop thinking that surely there was a way to salvage a piece of Wassailfest and do some good in our community. I’m so pleased with the result and blown away by the support of all our sponsors and volunteers.” said Jenny Wilson.

“We went into planning this looking to meet or exceed the funds raised last year and it’s very cool to see that goal realized. I can’t say enough good things about all the volunteers involved who made this happen. New Braunfels has no shortage of heart, even in 2020!” said John Coker.

This is the second year in a row that Wade Bowen has headlined a benefit concert on the first Thursday in December. At Wassailfest on December 5, 2019, $28,000 was raised to support non-profits affected by the November 15, 2019 fire at the Wurstfest Marketplatz grounds.

“It’s technically only the second year but I love this event and hope we’ve started something of a tradition in New Braunfels. I’m so proud to be in this community and it’s awesome to see so much support come together for these non-profits during this crazy year.” said Wade Bowen.
